ATL Unveils New Reinsurance Arm with Key Leadership Hires

ATL, a company known for its expertise in commercial insurance, has recently taken a significant leap in expanding its services globally. The launch of ATL RE, a dedicated reinsurance brokerage, marks ATL’s venture into new territories. Specifically, ATL RE will focus on the markets of Latin America and the Caribbean. This strategic move is complemented by the opening of a new office in Miami, which serves as a hub for this expansion.

The primary goal of ATL RE is to offer a diverse portfolio of commercial reinsurance products. These include financial lines, property and energy, construction, accident and health, treaty, and marine insurance. The target regions for these services are key markets in Latin America, including countries like Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, and Bolivia.

Leadership at the Helm

Key to this expansion is the appointment of renowned insurance experts. José Astorqui, with a notable history in the industry, takes the helm as the CEO and partner of ATL RE. His impressive career includes leading roles at BMS Group Latin America and Caribbean, Lions Gate Latin America and Caribbean, and Howden Insurance Brokers. Astorqui’s experience and understanding of the Latin American and Caribbean markets are expected to drive significant growth for ATL RE.

“I am thrilled to join ATL RE and lead its expansion in Latin America and the Caribbean. With my deep familiarity with these markets and the talented team we have, I am confident that we can offer unmatched services to our clients in these regions,” expressed Astorqui.

Joining Astorqui in leading ATL RE is Andrew Hye, appointed as partner and executive director. Hye brings a wealth of experience spanning over four decades in the international insurance and reinsurance industry, with past positions at Summa Brickell, BMS, Guy Carpenter, and Aon.

A Bright Future Ahead

The launch of ATL RE and these significant leadership appointments have been met with enthusiasm. Iñaki Bandres, CEO of ATL and chairman of ATL RE, highlighted the strategic importance of this expansion. “We are excited to announce the launch of ATL RE in Latin America and the Caribbean. With José and Andrew on board, we are bringing together top-notch experts with specialized knowledge of these markets. This expansion allows us to extend our global footprint and provide our clients with exceptional services, regardless of where they operate.”

The combination of a focused strategy, expert leadership, and a strong team positions ATL RE to make a substantial impact in the reinsurance sector in Latin America and the Caribbean. As the company steps into this new chapter, the industry watches with anticipation to see the growth and innovation that ATL RE will bring to the global insurance landscape.
