Chinese smartphone maker Realme has reached a significant milestone by shipping over 200 million phones since its inception five years ago. The company has achieved this feat primarily through its focus on overseas markets, making it the fifth-fastest smartphone manufacturer to reach this milestone.
Realme, owned by BBK Electronics, which also owns Oppo and Vivo, achieved this milestone in the second quarter of 2023. According to Counterpoint Research, only four companies – Vivo, Huawei, Samsung, and Apple – have taken less time to reach the same milestone.
The company is now poised to take on the premium smartphone segment with its upcoming launch of the Realme GT 5 Pro. This device will be among the first to feature Qualcomm’s latest high-end chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and Sony’s new Lytia camera sensor.
